Spontaneous Portraits: Kaitlyn

Last week, Kaitlyn and I headed to downtown Prescott to stroll around amongst the rainy day. We browsed shops, ate chocolate covered goodies and she got to use her adorable bubble umbrella.

I, of course, took my camera and had to take some shots of one of my best friends. I would like this to be the inspiration for more portraits like this, just simple and spontaneous. It is one thing to shoot people all dolled up, with an organized wardrobe and planned out setting, but then there is the opportunity to photograph the ones I love in their rawest forms, under natural light, just being casual, comfortable and themselves. I also love the lifestyle vibe that I get from impromptu images. It shows that the simplest occasions such as strolling around downtown, really are the beautiful moments in life.

With this set of images, I wanted to play around with a new post-processing filter/effect that I found. It reminds me of the VscoCam app on iPhone/iPad. I love the way their filters look, they remind me of film, and I will be honest, I miss film and I would love to work with it again.

Then, of course, some goofy ones of Kaitlyn being her adorable, goofy self.

And then a beautiful Arizona sunset to cap of the day.

Tiffany's Maternity Session

Last week I was able to photograph one of the strongest ladies I know, Tiffany. She is a co-worker of mine and is expecting her little girl in October! I am very excited for her little bundle of joy to show up!

Tiffany wanted just a few pictures of her baby belly in both nature and downtown Prescott. This was my first maternity shoot, and it was fun! Tiffany did a great job and she had a good time as well! It was fun for me posing pregnancy, since it was something I had never done.

I loved the way the pictures with the red wall came out! Then again, I ALWAYS love the pictures that are in front of my favorite wall in downtown Prescott. It is so vibrant, and I love the contrast between it and her soft, white top. Such a good combo.

This shoot turned out to be a great day since not only did I get to take pictures, but I also got to catch up and chat with Tiffany. She is so excited for her baby's arrival and ready to be a mom! She is going to be amazing at it, I can just tell!

Dana's Airport Portrait Session

About a month ago, one of my old co-workers, Dana, asked me if I could help her out with some portraits for her corporate flight attendant resume. I was delighted she thought of me and we met at the Prescott airport. She took me to a family friend's hanger where they had two planes set up for us to use as props for her pictures. The planes were beautiful and I was thrilled to be working with such different props!

This was different than most portrait sessions I do since it was for professional purposes, but we still kept it fun. At the end of the day all I wanted to do was hop in one of the planes and take it for a run. The people there were all so nice, they really wanted to help us out in any way possible. The day was good and Dana looked great and professional in the pictures.
